Elevator Inspector

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a skilled Elevator Inspector to oversee and conduct inspections of elevator systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory codes, safety standards, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in elevator maintenance, repair, and safety regulations, along with proven experience in conducting thorough and accurate inspections. The Elevator Inspector will play a vital role in upholding our commitment to safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of elevator systems, including but not limited to elevators, escalators, and moving walkways, to assess compliance with regulatory codes, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform visual inspections, functional tests, and diagnostic evaluations of elevator components, mechanisms, and controls to identify defects, deficiencies, and safety hazards.
  • Review maintenance records, service logs, and repair documentation to verify compliance with maintenance schedules, corrective actions, and industry guidelines.
  • Document inspection findings, prepare detailed reports, and communicate recommendations for corrective actions to clients, building owners, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and building managers to address safety concerns, resolve compliance issues, and implement corrective measures to ensure safe and efficient elevator operation.
  • Stay abreast of changes in elevator regulations, codes, and standards, and provide guidance to clients on compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection activities, documentation, and correspondence in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in elevator maintenance, repair, inspection, or related field.
  • Certification as a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of elevator systems, components, and safety mechanisms, including knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as ASME A17.1, EN 81, and ANSI/ASME A17.2.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify defects, deficiencies, and safety hazards during inspections.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools, equipment, and software for documenting findings and generating inspection reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical technology, or a related field.
